Two Bearkats Earn Prestigious UIL State Champion Gold Medals
Raymondville ISD is proud to celebrate a major achievement in the fine arts! Two exceptional members of the Bearkat Band have been awarded the UIL State Champion Gold Medal for their outstanding performances at the UIL State Solo & Ensemble Contest.
Oscar Garcia (Flute) and Leon Guzman (Percussion) both earned the highly coveted Outstanding Performer designation—each for the second time in their high school careers. This distinction places them among the top 2–3% of performers statewide, highlighting their dedication, talent, and hard work.
The UIL State Champion Gold Medal is the highest honor a student musician can receive in the state of Texas, and we couldn't be prouder of Oscar and Leon for representing Raymondville ISD with such excellence.
